    NHL 12 Demo

Post by CS Radical on Tue Aug 23, 2011 1:54 pm

Played the demo, loving the gameplay tweeks, you no longer need to deck a guy to break the puck loose, just being in his vicinity does it.

Endurance is going to be a big factor as well ESPECIALLY if you're going to stand in front of the net to screen the goalie.

Got one goalie interference penalty in the first game, gonna have to keep an eye on our positioning. Didn't do much either, just skated in front of him. Seems like EA's going to get it right so there's no glitch to knock the goalie down and not get called.

Transitions are much smoother, feels more like a TV broadcast.

Only problem is the Be A Pro, unless they're changing it. Being able to sim through shifts is great, but I don't like how you can't call yourself onto the ice like you always have been able to. Gives you less opportunities to actually make some career progress.

Yup just played it as well, this morning for a brief moment. About to play some more!

To be honest I'm gonna love BeaPro because you don't call yourself in anymore and just play like 40 mins every game. I think what they did though is the same for NBA 2k11 for My player mode. You start off from the bench playing around 2-10 mins per game for like the first 30 games of the season, but later on you work your way up to become a starter. And if EA does it the same way like NBA 2k11, I'm going to spend a lot of time on that mode Very Happy

just played it too for a couple of hours im liking it. the hits are nice a.i. seems to actually do something besides hit the boards which is nice. i had a couple of net of the morings and 2 hits over the bench so its not gonna be as we expected with every hit being exploited. overall i believe this is gonna be a real good game. o and i also got a goalie interfence call during a deflection goal my guy seemed to touch him with his stick while scoring so. and another thing i see that is better is the sticks/bodies actually blocking shots this time it seems like the puck stops when it hits a stick instead of going through it and scoring haha cant wait for the release.

Gotta disagree with you here.. I play a lot of these types of modes in all sports games.. Im sick of being the greatest thing alive after one season. I hope this is realistic and I have to play several seasons in the CHL/AHL before being called up.

I agree with that as well, I'm really on both sides of the fence. I think it may be more the smoothness of the transitions between shifts, I don't like having to go into a loading screen to my next shift.

Oh the loading screen has to go... If you ever play NBA 2K11.. That is the holy grail for how these things need to be handled.

It breaks down the moment. You could be in overtime but a loading screen's gonna take away that adrenaline rush.

Well in OT.. I'll just watch from the bench.. But your point remains valid.
